The Government Inspector
All hell breaks loose when the local council of a small regional community (manipulated by a powerful and wealthy developer) learn that the State Government are sending in a Crime and Corruption Inspector to have a sniff around. And he'll be arriving 'incognito'. But when a mysterious nobody is mistaken for the Inspector, the town will never be the same.

The Government Inspector, sometimes translated to The Inspector General was originally published and performed in 1836, and mercilessly lampoons the corrupt officials of an obscure provincial town that is portrayed as a microcosm of the Russian state. Artistic Director of Theatre iNQ in Queensland, Terri Brabon OAM, has set her version in outback Australia, and her play makes references to real cases of corruption that have occurred in Queensland. Theatre iNQ's "riotous" production of The Government Inspector, in March 2024, was very well received.
According to our director, "The Government Inspector will be very funny, but again, audiences will be given material to think about with regard to corruption in this country – and what we can do about it."
Following our successful presentation of Comic Potential in May, we hope our community will again come out to support our second production for 2025. We look forward to seeing you at Blackwood Memorial Hall in August!
